Details

Summary

Add the ability to pre-resolve architecture-specific EABI symbols and
use it on arm for selected EABI functions. These functions can be called
with rtld bind lock write-locked, so they should be resolved in forward.

Could we rename it to eg. thr_resolve_machdep()?

And add a definition like

#define _thr_resolve_machdep()

to libthr/arch/<arch>/include/pthread_md.h on all arches except arm32?

I do not want to rely on specific ld behavior for rtld.

With kib's changes...

FYI from doing a llvm/lib/Target/ARM/ARMISelLowering.cpp extraction for RTLIB:: with __aebi_ for isTargetAEABI and isAAPCS_ABI both holding:

[Previous note here about arm4 and arm5 was wrong: Actually ABI versions.]

I did not find a __aeabi_memclr in that source code.

Adapted to kib's objections.

I prefer static inline functions to magically disappearing lines in source code caused by macros.

Mark, I took the list of __eabi_ functions from the list of symbols emitted by libc (minus the floating point symbols).

This revision now requires review to proceed.Jul 25 2024, 8:13 AM

These were anything but objections.

Okay.

Also: Sorry for my indicating ARM4/ARM5 for what were references to ABI versions EABI::EABI4/EABI::EABI5 instead.
